HMD founded in 2nd August, 1957 was created to serve the Medical profession with affordable, World Class Medical Devices. It was the very first Technical Collaboration between a Japanese Corporation and an Indian MSME set up to produce Glass Syringes in the year 1959 and subsequently added other Products such as Surgical Blades in 1971, Single Use Syringes in 1986, Single use Needle in 1987, Cannula manufacturing in 1989, Scalp vein Infusion Sets in 1991, I.V Cannulas in 1992 Auto Disable Syringes in 2001, Vacuum Blood Collection Tubes in 2007, Blood Collection Needles in 2008 and safety I.V Cannulas in 2014 to its Product range.
To cater to its commitment effectively of providing Safe Injections, HMD set up a facility, for manufacturing K1 Design Auto Disable Syringes, for which HMD collaborated with M/s.Star Syringe UK. Thereafter, HMD entered into collaboration with M/s.Ester Technology, Israel and launched Vaku-8 brand of Evacuated Blood Collection Tubes and Blood Collection Needles for ensuring safe blood collection in a closed system.. HMD reiterates its‘ Global Vision and long term goal of becoming 'Top 5' in each of its business segments & building a unique competitive advantage in key businesses.

HMD few years ago signed an Agreement with Swedish Medical Technology Company, where Vigmed granted HMD the right to utilize Vigmed Patents on Safety I.V.Catheters and market these Products that prevent needle stick injury under HMD‘s Brand in select Markets.
In the recent times, Hindustan Syringes & Medical Devices (HMD) developed the most revolutionary and pioneering, India‘s First "Made in India" Dispovan Insulin Pen Needle‖ to provide affordable injection comfort for People with Diabetes in May 2018.
HMD was among the first set of Indian Manufacturers of Disposable Medical Devices to be awarded the Prestigious MDSAP Quality Assurance Certificate in August 2018.

Shri Narindra Nath founded HMD in 1957 and pioneered Indian production of Glass Syringes. He travelled to Japan to canvas the Japanese Manufacturers to collaborate with him, with travel cost borne by his friends. His passion for work helped him serve the Medical profession with affordable World-Class Medical Devices. His Vision, in-depth knowledge of management and his organizational expertise has helped the HMD Group to scale new heights every day. A true karamyogi, he left behind a legacy of Ethical Values and fair business dealings for his successors to follow.
